When Dr. Edwin Lorrimer, a forensic scientist working at a private laboratory is found killed, Detective Superintendent Adam Dalgliesh is sent to investigate. Dalgliesh had been in the area a few months previously investigating the murder of a young woman found in an abandoned car. There are several suspects: Lorrimer's subordinate, Clifford Bradley, who despises him; the new head of the laboratory, Maxim Howarth, who is jealous of his sister's relationship with him; a colleague, Paul Middlemass, who had a fight with Lorrimer. There is also a gruff and likely unethical policeman who was on the grounds of the laboratory at the time of the killing and a local pathologist who is raising his two young children after his wife leaves him for another man. When one of the suspects is also murdered, Dalgliesh learns a key piece of information.

Dahu resigned in frustration but was encouraged by his girlfriend, Ho Yuk-kam, to start a private detective agency. While taking the police officer's exam, Ho Zi-wai became friends with Li Chang-zi, who was frequently praised and promoted. Zi-wai felt unfairly treated and eventually left his job to join Dahu's detective agency. While investigating a kidnapping case, they discovered more secrets and illegal activities involving Pengfei. They used a citizen's arrest empowered under Article 101 of the Criminal Procedure Ordinance to bring the culprit to justice.
Powerhouse is a United States television series produced by the Educational Film Center at Northern Virginia ETV and aired on PBS for 16 episodes in 1982. It billed itself as "a 16-part series for young people and their families," with the target audience being primarily preteens and teenagers, and was widely praised by educational groups. The series was later rerun by Nickelodeon in the mid-1980s.

The first half-hour consisted of three 7-minute shorts of Scooby and Scrappy-Doo and Scrappy and Yabba-Doo, with a 30-minute episode of The Puppy's New Adventures in the second half-hour. The Scooby/Scrappy-related shorts were written and voiced at Hanna-Barbera Productions, but animated and edited by Ruby-Spears Enterprises.

This ten episode program was based on ten short stories written by Agatha Christie but with wide-ranging themes. Some were romances, some had supernatural themes and a couple were adventures. The common link was that all came from the talented pen of Agatha Christie, all were entertaining and each drama was carefully crafted and well cast with many of Britain's best known actors of the time represented.
