Plot Summary:
Set in Moscow in 1983, the story unfolds after several winners of the state lottery “MosLoto” are found dead, with their winning tickets still in hand. Retired Major Ivan Cherkasov (played by Andrey Smolyakov) returns to help his former colleagues at MUR (Moscow Criminal Investigation Department) investigate this mysterious string of murders.
The investigation initially casts suspicion on the lottery organizer Belousov (played by Alexander Samoylenko) and television host Shorokhov (Igor Vernik). However, as the case deepens, it leads the detectives to a scientific institute of mathematics and cybernetics, where a group of young researchers has been studying ways to optimize winnings in state lotteries.
