Word Travels is an adventure travel television documentary series. An original Canadian production, the show debuted on OLN on January 30, 2008 and airs in Canada on OLN and CityTV, and worldwide on Nat Geo Adventure. The show is co-hosted by Robin Esrock and Julia Dimon, produced by Omni Film Limited, and filmed by Sean Cable. The first season of Word Travels aired on OLN in Canada and began airing internationally on the National Geographic Adventure worldwide in October 2008. The second season began airing on the OLN on January 18, 2009, and aired on National Geographic Adventure in September, 2009. Season 3 was filmed between April and October 2009, and debuted in Canada on OLN on March 7, 2010. It airs on Travel Channel in 21 languages around the world. Word Travels is often misspelled as World Travels.

It is loosely inspired by TV Azteca's Catalina y Sebastian, written by the same writer of this project. The series stars Elizabeth Gutiérrez and José Ángel Llamas as the protagonists while Patricia Álvarez, Marjorie de Sousa and Zully Montero star as the main villains. Filmed and set in Miami, Florida, USA, the show replaced Nunca Te Diré Adiós at 1PM/12C on Univision. The telenovela also aired in Ecuador at 10:15pm on TC Televisión, on Canal 9 in Valencia, Spain and on Telemetro in Panama. It began airing in Venezuela on October 29, 2008, via Venevisión Plus at 10:00pm with repeats Monday to Saturday at 1:00pm. It was broadcast in United States, Ecuador, Spain, Panama, Chile and Venezuela.

The Executive in Charge of Production is Janice Dawe. Episodes in the first season were directed by John Fawcett, Michael DeCarlo, Ken Girotti, Kelly Makin, Brett Sullivan and Philip Earnshaw. The first season had a total budget of 20 million dollars, with about 1.5 million dollars per episode. The series is set in Toronto and follows agents of the fictitious Immigration and Customs Security agency. ICS was created by the Government of Canada to deal with trans-border matters concerning Canadian national security including terrorism and smuggling. The cancellation of The Border was announced by the CBC after three seasons were aired.

The Royal Today is a British medical soap opera, a spin-off of the similarly themed drama, The Royal. The concept is that whilst The Royal is set in the late 1960s, The Royal Today featured the same hospital in the present day, with a new set of characters working in the same location. Each episode followed the events of a single day, and the show was broadcast daily, so the series could be said to progress in real time. The first series of 50 half-hour episodes began on 7 January 2008 on the ITV network airing from 4pm-4.30pm. Although there were a number of running storylines, the series generally eschewed the use of cliffhangers. The series was axed in March 2008 after poor ratings, on an average of 1.175 million viewers.
