Story following Kuromi as she travels around the world in search of her missing sister, Romina, who makes her first appearance in this anime. In addition to Romina, a number of new characters will appear, including the friends who travel with Kuromi and a member of an evil organization that stands in the way of their journey.
This story revolves around two teenagers of different identities and different cultural backgrounds – Fa Hua and Lan Ge, whom because of a magic weapon "Only Pearl" were connected together to save humanity. The two teenagers have a symbiotic relationship because of the artifact, which makes the two teenagers with very different personalities need to go through a variety of tests together, with that, the relationship between the two see subtle changes, and they began to understand each other, and gradually the two became as close as siblings.

ADV Films has licensed the rights for the North American release of Magikano on DVD for $65,000, and released the first volume on December 4, 2007. ADV Films' Anime Network began airing the anime on January 3, 2008 on their Subscription On Demand platform. On March 6, 2008 the anime began airing on their Free On Demand platform. In July 2008, the series became one of over 30 ADV titles to be transferred to Funimation.
