Ratio Rasch, the president of planet Gyllenblå, has banned laughter and emotions in order to create a society based on reason. Police are constantly patrolling the planet and anyone caught laughing is imprisoned and given anti-laughter serum. Only a few members of an underground guerrilla oppose the president. On Earth, the eccentric Dr. Krull listens to signals from outer space and realizes that something needs to be done so he sends the two children Cecilie and Fredrik to Gyllenblå. Epicykel, a guerrilla member, senses their presence and hopes to get to them first but fails. The children are put in school, where Fredrik has great difficulty controlling his laughter but Cecilie adapts well. The guerrilla knows that laughter is contagious and Fredrik gives them new hope of returning laughter to the people of Gyllenblå.

Betsy's Kindergarten Adventures is a slice of life cartoon intended for young children. The show premiered on January 19, 2008 on PBS Kids. The show follows a girl named Betsy as she starts out her school years. The series premiere shows Betsy facing the uncertainty of her first day of school and the adjustments she must make as she meets her new teacher and classmates, encounters unfamiliar rules and routines, and finds herself in an entirely new environment. Subsequent episodes show Betsy's excitement and sense of adventure as she adapts to the new experiences of kindergarten. This show is similar to other PBS Kids shows like Caillou and Clifford the Big Red Dog that cater to an audience of children between the ages of 2-6.

Gather 'Round was an educational series syndicated on numerous PBS stations from September 1, 1978 until January 1, 1979. The series was a production of CTI/Glad and was shown mainly during weekday in-school telecasts. The programs generally ran for 15 minutes or less. They were hosted/narrated by Paul M Lally and featured the charcoal drawings of Rae Owings. As Lally told stories, Owings would draw pictures with a charcoal pencil, illustrating the story as it was being told. Lally and Owings were also responsible for behind the scenes production work on other shows such as Cover to Cover, and The Word Shop.

Dinky Di's is an early 1990s animated cartoon with anthropomorphic animal heroes who fought to prevent environmental damage and rescue endangered animal and bird species from the satanic Mr. Mephisto. It was produced in Australia by Roo and created by Mel Bradford. Known as the "Friends on freedom's frontier", the squad is well organised with a command center, computer network, and high-tech, amphibious vehicles. They are led by Aussie and Cass, and aided by characters from across the globe. Mr. Mephisto, a shadowy figure with glowing red eyes, uses a gang of stereotypically maligned beasts to do his dirty work: Rancid Rat, Hugo Hyena, Ganny Iguana, and others. Mephisto's true identity, however, is a true mystery to the Dinky Di's, and one which, when solved, will be a major step towards slowing damage to the planet. Nanalan' is a Canadian television show broadcast by CBC Television in Canada and by PBS in the US, created by The Grogs. Its target audience is preschool kids and Nanalan' is "designed to foster children's curiosity and love of learning, with the hope they will carry it with them as they grow". Excerpts from the show also air on Fox Kids UK. Nanalan also aired on Nick Jr. as short episodes in between shows. Nanalan' began airing in 1999. In 2004, it was nominated for the following three Gemini Awards: Best Performance in a Pre-School Program or Series; Best Writing in a Children's or Youth Program or Series; and Best Pre-School Program or Series. Nanalan' won Best writing and Best performance, an award shared by Jamie Shannon, Jason Hopley, Marty Stelnick, Todd Doldersum, and Ali Eisner. Several compilation DVDs of the show and a CD of musical highlights are also available.
