The Galactic Federation is concerned about the number of wars on the Planet Earth. It sends three agents to determine if the planet is a potential threat to the universe, and whether it should be destroyed. The instrument of destruction is a device resembling a large black ball with two antennae that is variously called an anti-proton bomb, a solar bomb, and a neutron bomb. The agents (Captain Bokko, Nokko, and Pukko) are originally humanoid in appearance, but upon arrival on Earth they take on the appearances of a rabbit (Bokko), a horse (Nokko), and a duck (Pukko) that they had captured as examples of Earth life forms. While on Earth they travel in a tire-shaped vehicle capable of enormous speeds called the Big Wheel, which can travel on both land and water (and, with modifications, through the air)

In the 25th century, a spaceship carrying 300 people leaves the earth in search of a new world in the solar system, but an unexpected accident occurs. They crash into a black hole which is connected to another universe. The people on the ship are cast adrift in an emergency capsule to a planet called Ismo. The story begins 12 years after they have reached Ismo. Ismo is a star of the Onam System, which corresponds to the Solar System in our universe. It is the only planet left in the Onam System. The Death Star called Yomi is a comet which regularly approaches the Onam System.

The anime was originally broadcast from February 11, 1991 to January 27, 1992 on TV Setouchi and TV Tokyo with a total of 50 episodes. Along with the TV series, a few manga versions were released. One of them was released in the US under the name Venger Robo and in Spain as Venger Robot Go. The anime and manga are unrelated, and while the anime is a remake of the original series, the manga is a sequel of the original manga. The series is sometimes wrongly written in Japanese as ゲッターロボ号.

Prior to the TV series, an anime film was released on December 26, 1981.They were produced as a Chinese-Japanese joint venture and directed by Shuichi Nakahara and Tatsuo Shimamura. The series is about the eponymous Taotao, a small panda. In the stories, Taotao has adventures with his animal friends and listens to the stories of his mother, the mother panda. Paz is an American television show produced by Telescreen BV, Egmont Imagination, King Rollo Films, Open Mind Productions, Discovery Kids, and DreamWorks Classics. The series runs as 80 eight-minute shows, each of which combines both a five-minute animation with live action before and after. The show integrates the live action with the animation so that the story flows and continues throughout. In the US it airs on Discovery Kids and on TLC on Ready Set Learn between shows. The title theme was composed by Art Labriola and all the incidental music was written by Lester Barnes. Children's TV producer Jonathan Meath supervised and produced numerous episodes of the show Paz the Penguin. Paz is based on the books by Mary Murphy. The show focuses on a five-year-old penguin named Paz and his mother, Big Penguin. It first aired in 2003. In Europe and many other countries, Paz runs only as a five-minute cartoon without the live action sections.
