Seven Sharp is a half hour long New Zealand current affairs programme produced by Television New Zealand. The programme was created after the axing of Close Up. It started on Monday 4 February 2013 at 7.00pm on TV ONE. Seven Sharp presents up to 8 stories within a 30 minute timeslot every night. Seven Sharp is also intended to be more integrated with social media and real time opinions. Seven Sharp competes mostly with TV3 current affairs show Campbell Live but Seven Sharp also shares the same time slot with TV2 drama Shortland Street and Channel Four's The Simpsons. Fill-in presenters include Stacey Morrison, Heather du Plessis-Allan, Te Radar, Clarke Gayford, Tamati Coffey and Rose Matafeo.

A feature-length English-dubbed version comprising several episodes edited together into a movie, titled Robby the Rascal, was produced by Jim Terry's Kidpix Productions and released on home video in the United States in 1985. However, the English version deleted much of the risque humor that, while not uncommon in children's animation in Japan, would be considered unacceptable by American standards, with the policewoman Sachiko being the usual target of the fan service-oriented humor. The TV series also aired in its entirety in Italy under the title Robottino, and some episodes are also available in Spanish as Robotete.

Gabe visited The Animal Band, a group of woodland creatures, including a rabbit on drums, a weasel on guitar, a penguin on bass, and a raccoon on keytar. Each episode also featured a visit with a guest storyteller or two (often people connected to the Jim Henson Company). The final segment of each episode included a child actor playing Tomie enacting stories from his book "26 Fairmount Avenue."
