The Ranger - On the Hunt is a German television series that has been produced for Das Erste since 2018 on behalf of ARD-Degeto and MDR. The episodes are about 90 minutes long and will be broadcast as part of the series Endlich Freitag on Das Erste. The central character of the series is Jonas Waldek who worked as a ranger in Canada for several years and returned to his hometown of Wehlen to work as a ranger in the Saxon Switzerland National Park.
In a small village in the Po Valley a permanent state of feud exists between the parish priest Don Camillo and the Communist mayor Peppone.
They fight their battles in the cause of the betterment of the Northern Italian community and Camillo comforts himself in his frequent times of crisis with intimate little conversations with the Almighty.
Summer 1944. Walter Proska is about to return to the Eastern Front when his train is blown up by partisans. Together with a scattered bunch of German soldiers, cut off from the front, he awaits certain death while the commands of his superior Willi Stehauf are becoming more and more senseless and inhuman.
After the tragic loss of her mother, the medical student Christine Berger takes a job as a supervisor for the young Countess Leonore von Hohenstein, who suffers from a heart disease. Leonore's husband Gregor and Christine are drawn to each other from the first moment, but both are aware of the impossibility of their love and try to suppress their feelings.
