Usually starting with commonly used ingredients and where to obtain them in Australia, it then moves onto the preparation and consumption of popular favourites, basic dishes and desserts. The series was rested in 2008 after the airing of the third series with a spin-off series, Italian Food Safari, airing in 2010, presented by O'Meara and chef Guy Grossi. A second spin-off series, French Food Safari, aired in 2011 and was presented by O'Meara and chef Guillaume Brahimi. Food Safari was commissioned for a fourth series and will return February 14, 2013.
