Originally, Bill Moyers executive produced, wrote and hosted the Journal. WNET in New York produced it and PBS aired it from 1972 to 1976. In 1979, following a nearly three-year hiatus, many presidential members of PBS announced that Bill Moyers Journal would return for a second series. The second series covered a broader range of issues in depth. This included election coverage and documentary footage from several U.S. states, among them Florida, Texas, Illinois, D.C. and Nevada.     Aksyon Balita is the final Filipino-language newscast and the late afternoon news broadcast of Radio Philippines Network in the Philippines. Launched in 2006, it is broadcast at 5:30 PM Philippine time. It was created as a spin-off of the network's longest-running news program, NewsWatch. With the latter program's final episode on January 4, 2008, the Filipino edition dropped the "NewsWatch" tag and is retitled to, simply, Aksyon Balita, apparently to complement the network's new English newscast, i-Watch News.

    CBC News Magazine was a weekly Canadian news television series which debuted on CBC Television on September 8, 1952. The series presented the week's international news highlights and documentaries from CBC correspondents around the world. It ran until 1981 when it was cancelled in order to make way for The Journal. Lorne Greene, then an announcer and newsreader for the CBC, was narrator for the series in its early years. It was hosted by the anchor of The National from the 1970s until its demise.

    EenVandaag is a current affairs programme broadcast on the Dutch public television network Nederland 1. The programme, which airs on Monday to Saturday evenings at 6:15pm CET is a co-production of the broadcasting associations AVRO and TROS. EenVandaag initially aired on Nederland 2 as Twee Vandaag and was launched in 1993 as a joint-production between the pillar broadcasters TROS, the EO and Veronica. Up until that point, the three companies had produced their own weekly current affairs programmes - TROS Aktua, Tijdsein and Nieuwslijn. Since then, the roll-call of participating broadcasters has changed several times. Currently, the programme is presented on alternate nights by Bas van Werven and Pieter Jan Hagens. The programme's editor-in-chief is Jan Kriek. EenVandaag is also broadcast each weekday on the international television station BVN.
