Studio 2 was a daily current affairs newsmagazine on TVOntario in Ontario, Canada. The show won several Gemini Awards, and was hosted by Steve Paikin and Paula Todd, and first aired in 1994. TVOntario announced the program's termination on June 29, 2006. The final episode aired on June 30, and was replaced that fall with a new series hosted by Paikin, The Agenda. Rather than a newscast style, Studio 2 tackled certain current news stories affecting many Canadians with a focus often on Ontario. Regular topics on the show included healthcare, federal politics, provincial politics, terrorism, foreign affairs, the environment, the arts and many others. The show usually performed a deep analysis, often with open discussions among experts or even interviewing specific figures involved in the issues. Kudlow & Cramer was a CNBC American business and politics television program with conservative Lawrence Kudlow and liberal Jim Cramer. The program initially replaced Hardball with Chris Matthews, which moved to sister channel MSNBC, for the 8 p.m. Eastern Time slot, but later moved to the 5 p.m. slot. The show replaced the short-lived CNBC show America Now, which began with a rotating set of hosts and ended with Kudlow and Cramer as the two co-hosts. CNBC then created a show specifically for the two; the ordering of the name was picked via a coin toss at the end of the last America Now episode. Kudlow & Cramer had high TV ratings in comparison to other CNBC shows, after CNBC's TV ratings went down because of the negativity of the dot-com bubble burst and the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the U.S. The program last aired on February 11, 2005, before it was split into Kudlow & Company, which first aired February 14, and Mad Money, which replaced Dylan Ratigan's Bullseye on March 14 of the same year.

West 57th is a newsmagazine series which aired on CBS from August 13, 1985, through September 9, 1989.West 57th originally premiered as a summer series, and took its name from the New York address of the CBS Broadcast Center. The original correspondents were Jane Wallace, Bob Sirott, Meredith Vieira, and John Ferrugia. Later contributors included Steve Kroft, Selina Scott, Karen Burnes, and Stephen Schiff. The style of the program was intended to use the contemporary tools of television to tell compelling stories. The show's popularity, a concern for Hewitt, prompted 60 Minutes pundit Andy Rooney to dedicate one of his closing segments on his program to a parody of West 57th correspondents. After the cancellation, the show was replaced by the short-lived Saturday Night with Connie Chung. Vieira and fellow correspondent Steve Kroft transferred to 60 Minutes, where Kroft currently remains. Vieira went on to anchor NBC's Today Show. News Central ended all newscasts effective March 31, 2006, which, after that date, its stations either did their newscasts entirely on their own, outsourced their newscast to a larger station in the market, or cancelled their newscasts entirely. Others, like WSMH, teamed up with non-affiliate stations in their market to either simulcast other stations' newscasts, or produce a news program in conjunction of the two stations. From 1 January 2005, Sky News was awarded the contract to provide the news for Channel 5, replacing ITN, which had provided the channel's news service from the channel's launch in 1997. On 14 February 2011, the service was rebranded back to its original name, 5 News, having been called Five News from 2002 until 2011. On 20 February 2012 the contract returned to original provider ITN. The ITV press centre announced on 2 September 2011 that David Kermode, at-the-time editor, would leave 5 News in order to take up an editorial spot on Daybreak. He was replaced by Geoff Hill.
